Who We Are

Established in 2009, the GOP Doctors Caucus is composed of Republican members of Congress with medical and health care provider backgrounds dedicated to patient-centered health care policy. The caucus serves as a strong voice for patients and physicians and provides meaningful guidance to congressional Republican leadership. It is committed to improving the quality, access and affordability of health care for all Americans.

  • Putting Patients First
    • Patients should be treated as individuals, not numbers. Industry consolidation should not compromise high quality and personalized care. Guarding the doctor-patient relationship, enhancing the standard of care for all Americans, and preserving patients' dignity are at the heart of our mission.
  • Prevention & Education
    • Increasing access to preventative health services and education is essential to improving patient well-being. Medicine is not only about treating illness but also empowering individuals to take ownership of their health. Public policy needs to reward prevention, incentivizing both patients and doctors.
  • Access to Care
    • Everyone, regardless of zip code, should have access to affordable, high-quality care, including rural and underserved areas. This requires addressing challenges in physician payment, physician workforce shortages, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, ensuring timely care delivery and insurance industry reform. Preserving private practice in every community is vital.
  • Price Transparency
    • Patients should know the cost of care and treatments upfront, not after receiving a bill. Price transparency increases competition and lowers prices for Americans. We should incentivize improved quality, value, and consumer choice, not monopolistic practices that restrict care and hide excessive costs.
